They say that pride cometh before a fall, but this doesn’t apply to everybody. Sure, most vain individuals eventually fail to see the writing on the wall and stumble blindly into something they can’t handle, but some people just lead a charmed life.

In our all-for-one regime diabolic: lights in darkness campaign, it’s hard to find a person that has more pride than Brisecoeur. This doesn’t apply to every facet of his life, but when it comes to the ladies, he’s a heartbreaker and he knows it.

The pride he exudes doesn’t arrive in a brash manner, but just in his ability to rationalize the sheer amount of mischief that he has gotten into. We open the campaign with him fleeing from the scene when a cardinal’s guard comes home while he is busy entertaining the man’s wife.

Even when confronted with the damage he has caused by a demon of sorrow he is able to put a spin on every relationship that shows him in the most favorable light and absolves him of any wrongdoing.

In every case he describes and justifies his exploits with enough of a disarming smile and sincere belief in his innocence that you can’t actually get mad at him.

Besides, he’s proud to be a musketeer, and who could fault him for that? All the other musketeers are certainly proud to serve with him, or maybe they’re just waiting for some crumbs to fall from his buffet of the fairer sex.

Why not both?
